11 dead, 30 injured in N. Korean sinkhole accident

A sinkhole collapsed in North Korea leaving 11 dead and 30 others injured according to Radio Free Asia.

The incident occurred while farmers plowed through an icy patch.

The earth gave way underneath them burying the victims alive.

The farmers had been ordered by the Kim Jong-un regime to dig until they had discovered unfrozen areas in an attempt to improve acidity levels in the soil.

“[Local] officials know well how difficult the soil-plowing work is in the winter, but can’t help requiring people to do it because of a severe shortage of workers,” an anonymous source told the RFA.
