2 dead in Korean American-owned liquor store shooting
A 36-year-old man shot and killed two people inside a Georgia liquor store Sunday. One of his victims was the Korean American owner of the establishment in Rockdale County, Ga.
An argument broke out over an unpaid bill according to authorities.
When the clerk withheld Jeffrey Scott Pitts’ identification card, he left the store and came back with an assault rifle.
He opened fire, killing two individuals before fleeing. He then proceeded to his home where he may have fired again upon his parents.
When a deputy arrived on the scene, Pitts opened fire once more, but was wounded and killed during the exchange.
It is unknown whether he committed suicide or was fatally struck by one of the deputy’s bullets.
Although Pitts’ parents were both injured, both are in stable condition according to the Associated Press.
“They’re nice. It’s family oriented. You hate to see stuff like this go on. That’s it,” a customer told a local news station.
