2 Korean teenagers jump off bridge together after meeting at suicide cafe
Two South Korean teenage girls who met at an online suicide cafe jumped off a bridge into the Han River but were rescued alive Tuesday, Yonhap reported.
According to Seoul Gwangjin Police Station Wednesday, the girls, 19-year-old Cho and 15-year-old Han, jumped off Gwangjin Bridge together at 12:24 a.m. Tuesday.
A witness who saw them jump called police. The girls were rescued and transferred to a nearby hospital without serious injury.
Investigators said Cho and Han had met on an Internet community, commonly called cafes, related to suicide before contacting one another through social networking.
“Because the suicide ended as an attempt, there is no way to fine the owner of the suicide cafe,” a police source told Yonhap.
