2015 Newsweek public schools ranking released: NJ places 6 in top-10, Whitney No. 6

Newsweek released its 2015 rankings of public schools in the U.S. using a system that considered categories such as college readiness, graduation rate, college-bound and poverty.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Va. topped the list scoring almost perfectly in all categories while also providing significant resources to students from low-income families.

Six of the top-10 schools were from New Jersey with High Technology High School in Monmouth County ranked highest among those.

Gretchen Whitney High School in Cerritos, Calif. ranked sixth and was the only west coast high school in the top-10. The next closest was Piedmont High School near the San Francisco Bay area.

    The high school you have pictured is Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, VA. The high school you were writing about is in Alexandria, VA. The one pictured is not a nationally ranked school.
