30 Koreatown residents displaced after partial apartment collapse
March 9, 2015
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – About 30 people, many of them children, were displaced from a Koreatown apartment complex Sunday after exterior stucco collapsed, authorities said.
The partial collapse was reported at 8:01 p.m. at a two-story apartment complex at 2981 W. Eighth St. in Koreatown, Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Eight units were affected, Main said.
Building inspectors allowed the occupants to return to their units for the evening after checking the structural integrity of the complex, she said.
Building and Safety Code Enforcement officials tomorrow will determine what repairs are needed.
