75-year-old taxi driver hits 5 luxury cars, hotel helps by paying full costs

Lotte Hotel will cover the damage a 75-year-old taxi driver caused after he hit five expensive cars.

Compensation is expected to be up to 500 million won (about $440,000). The damaged cars were a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and a Porsche Panamera Turbo, an Equus limousine, a Grandeur and a Mercedes-Benz.

The hotel said it would be too burdensome for the taxi driver, identified only as Suh, to have to pay.

While driving into the hotel compound, the taxi driver hit a flower garden and then the cars. He initially said his car suddenly accelerated, but a video analysis prompted him to admit his mistake.
