South Korea settled for a 2-2 draw against Costa Rica at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Montreal on Saturday.

S. Korea seemingly had its first-ever win at the quadrennial tournament, but blew a 2-1 lead in the 89th minute in the Group E match at Olympic Stadium.

S. Korea is making its second appearance at the quadrennial tournament. In its debut in 2003, South Korea lost all three group matches.

In the first match at this year’s tournament, South Korea lost to Brazil 2-0 last Tuesday in Montreal.

Costa Rica, which held Spain to a 1-1 draw Tuesday, moved to two points and South Korea has one point. Brazil defeated Spain 1-0 earlier Saturday to reach six points and leave Spain at one point.

South Korea, ranked 18th, will close out the group stage against the 14th-ranked Spain on Wednesday in Ottawa.

Spain is currently ahead of South Korea in third place thanks to superior goal difference.

The top two nations from each of the six groups, plus four best third-place teams, will reach the knockout stage.
