Condom company ends up apologizing for congratulating Tae-yeon and Baek-hyun
A social media manager at Durex, the British condom brand, was forced to issue an apology hours after congratulating singer Tae-yeon on news about her love life.
Earlier on Thursday, showbiz news site Dispatch reported that Tae-yeon, the baby-faced vocalist of the girl-pop band Girls’ Generation, was dating Baek-hyun from the boy band EXO.
As the Internet erupted with the news, the editor of Durex’s Korean twitter account (@durexmania) wrote: “We congratulate them on their love! For them, Durex will always hope for the best!”
That tweet touched off fury because people apparently hate thinking about condoms and a Girls’ Generation member at once.
Facing an avalanche of angry tweets, Durex’s twitter editor initially tried to reason with the haters, writing that “Durex roots for every kind of love. ” He also claimed he was a big fan of EXO and even bought the group’s “Overdose” album.
The editor eventually gave in.
“Durex roots for every kind of love. But we have realized that congratulating stars on their love can be hurtful to fans. We sincerely apologize,” he tweeted.

I still don´t get what was all the fuss about. It´s not like guys don´t fantasize about doing naughty things to Taeyeon. And if someone searches durex on their own, they sure are found guilty of naughty thoughts themselves, so why they got angry? Nice double meter.
