10 teams confirmed for S.F. K-POP Festival
The 10 teams that will perform July 19 at the 2014 San Francisco K-POP Festival, the preliminary round to the K-POP World Festival held annually in Korea, have been confirmed.
Put on by the S.F. Korean Consulate General and the Korean Language and Culture Foundation, the festival is in its third year and will also include a K-pop flash mob and 200 servings of free bibimbap on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Performers were chosen from a pool of 16 teams, who sang and danced to K-pop via YouTube videos. The 10 teams — five soloists, one duo and four groups — will compete at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto.
Two teams — one vocal team and one performance team — will go on to an all-expenses-paid trip to Korea for the 2014 K-POP World Festival in October. The annual event, organized by Korea’s Minstry of Foreign Affairs, brings together preliminary winners from around the world.
