Nine-year-old girl drowns in Santa Clara pool
July 17, 2014
A 9-year-old girl in Santa Clara accidentally drowned Tuesday in a swimming pool while visiting her friend.
The girl has been identified as Lahee Hong by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office, CBS SF reported.
According to Menlo Park police, she was found unconscious and not breathing by the time emergency crews arrived at an apartment complex community pool around 5 p.m.
She was taken to Stanford Hospital but was pronounced dead.
The initial investigation indicates that she drowned while trying to retrieve a toy that fell into the pool while playing with her friend, police said.
