Ryu Hyun-jin placed on 15-day DL
August 15, 2014
By Lee Kyutae
Los Angeles Dodgers’ Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin was placed on the 15-day disabled list (DL) with a right hip strain on Friday.
Ryu had taken an MRI earlier in the day that showed strained muscles, which help stabilize the hip and leg during his throwing motion.
The left-hander hurt himself during Wednesday’s 3-2 loss against the Atlanta braves on the road. His record fell to 13-6 with a 3.28 ERA in 23 starts.
Ryu is the sixth player to go on the DL for the injury-riddled Dodgers this month, joining short stop Hanley Ramirez (oblique), pitchers Josh Beckett (hip), Paul Maholm (ACL tear), Chris Perez (ankle), and Paco Rodriguez (teres major strain).
