Korea beats Japan, advances to LLWS international final
August 20, 2014
South Korea defeated defending Champion Japan in Little League World Series (LLWS) action on Wednesday. Following a 29-year absence, South Korea has made it all the way to the international championship game.
Hwang Jae-young hit a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the sixth, and South Korea went on to win 4-2 over Japan in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. South Korea had allowed a 2-2 tie after Choi Hae-chan’s two-run homer in the third inning.
South Korea is looking for its third LLWS crown since winning two straight titles in 1984 and 1985.
However, Japan can get another crack at South Korea in this double-elimination tournament by defeating Mexico on Thursday.
