3 Koreans arrested for alleged brothel operation in Irvine, L.A.
IRVINE (CNS) – A yearlong investigation into an organized prostitution operation in Irvine led to the arrest today of two men and a woman and the service of search warrants at locations in Irvine, Newport Beach and the Koreatown section of Los Angeles, police said.
Arrested on suspicion of pimping, pandering and human trafficking for their alleged involvement in operating brothels at rented apartments in Irvine and Los Angeles were 56-year-old Heung Soon Kim and 41-year-old Jin Woo Park, both of Los Angeles, and 36-year-old Miyoun Kim of Newport Beach, said Irvine police Cmdr. Julia Engen.
The investigation began in June 2013, when detectives were tipped off about prostitution activity in an apartment in the 2000 block of Alton Parkway in Irvine, Engen said.
“Over the course of the investigation, detectives identified multiple suspects and locations involved in the prostitution activity,” she said.
Irvine police worked with the FBI, Orange County District Attorney’s Office and Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force “to complete this investigation and to ensure the women involved in the prostitution activities were referred for appropriate care and services,” Engen said.
