Grand Finale: Korea Day at LACMA on Saturday

‘Treasures of Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty’ comes to an end Sunday after its three-month exhibit.

Korea Day will unfold Saturday at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as the “Treasures of Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty” comes to an end Sunday after its three-month exhibit.

The day will comprise of five free events held throughout the museum:

Lecture: Symbolism and Functions of Korean Palace Screen Paintings

Join Academy of Korean Studies professor Lee Song-mi inside Brown Auditorium at 11 a.m.

Concert: An Afternoon with the Ahn Sook Sun Ensemble

Ahn Sook-sun, a pansori singer and a living cultural asset of South Korea, will perform with an ensemble inside Bing Theater at 1 p.m.

Korean Tea Ceremony

Tea ceremony specialist Lee Young-mi will explain traditional Korean tea culture at the L.A. Times Central Court from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Community Bojagi

A community bojagi created with pieces collected from February to June from 1,700 participants will be unveiled and displayed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the Boone Children’s Gallery.

Brush Painting

The Boone Children’s Gallery will offer a brush painting workshop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
