Watch Korean football, or else!
When MBC-TV took a short commercial break during broadcasting a Major League baseball game between Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals, actress Lee Yu-ri from Korea’s hottest evening soap opera “Jangbori is here” (왔다 장보리) made a surprise appearance.
Lee’s appearance was to promote MBC’s coverage of the Korea-Paraguay football match, the first under new German coach Uli Stielike, and it was an instant classic.
Lee ― who plays an evil character in the drama ― warns viewers not to miss the match. “Listen carefully,” snarls the actress. “It’s the first friendly match with the new head coach. The future of the nation’s football is at stake. Are you still not going to watch it?”
She ends her appearance with an air kiss, her popular signature gesture in the drama.
“Jangbori is here” is the network’s top show, rating at more than 30 percent. The last episode will air this Sunday.
The Korea-Paraguay game starts at 8 p.m. KT (4 a.m. PT) at Cheonan Stadium, South Chungcheong Province.
