iPhone 6 success delays larger iPad release date into 2015
By The Korea Times Los Angeles staff
Apple Inc. is facing a dilemma on how to go about releasing its latest larger iPad.
The iPhone 6 line is generating so much demand that it is exceeding supply on a level that warrants the delay of manufacturing their newest iPad product.
Apple had already sold 10 million units of its latest iPhone within the first weekend of its release and the numbers might be even more staggering when it releases the latest sales figures towards the end of October.
Foxconn, the Chinese manufacturers of Apple’s iPhones and iPads, is reaching a limitation on resources despite having approximately one million employees according to The Wall Street Journal. The company has long been criticized for their questionable labor practices and may be further scrutinized as they attempt to ramp up production to keep pace with demand.
As a result, Apple announced that the larger iPad’s December release date has been pushed into 2015. The new product is projected to have a 12.9 inch screen as opposed to the existing 9.7 inch screen and is seen as a way to jump start their slowing sales in the tablet market.
Apple’s sales in this sector have trended downwards the past two quarters according to its own public reports so it seems like a financially logical decision to focus on what is currently generating success.
