Amazon Fresh makes east coast debut
By The Korea Times Los Angeles staff
Amazon’s grocery delivery service, Amazon Fresh, has expanded its operations to Park Slope in Brooklyn, New York.
Residents of the area who are also have an Amazon Prime membership will have access to over 500,000 items that can delivered to their doorsteps on the same day as long as they are ordered before 10 a.m.
This service will be free in this district until the end of the year. It will cost around $299 per year, which is what San Francisco residents are paying at the moment.
Amazon Fresh is currently limited to groceries, but it has been speculated that the program is a precursor for plans to develop a nationwide same day delivery service that would sufficiently decrease the need for users to travel to purchase goods.
The United States Postal Service is also a part of the delivery infrastructure and contributes to approximately 35% of Amazon Fresh’s deliveries according to an Amazon report.
