3 Korean companies on Forbes’ list of The World’s Most Valuable Brands
Three South Korean companies made it onto Forbes’ list of The World’s Most Valuable Brands this year, released last week.
Samsung, ranked highest among them at No. 8, saw competitor Apple ranked No. 1.
Placing No. 71 was auto manufacturer Hyundai, and behind it Kia Motors at No. 80.
All companies saw a rise in rankings compared to last year. Samsung, with a brand value of $35 billion — a 19 percent increase from 2013 — rose one spot. Hyundai, brand valued at $7.8 billion, rose 10 spots. Kia entered the Top 100 for the first time this year with a brand value of $6.9 billion.
Meanwhile, technology ruled the board. Apple’s brand value saw a 19 percent increase over the past year and is now valued at $124.2 billion, almost twice the amount of No. 2-ranked Microsoft, at $63 billion.
Google followed behind at No. 3, trailed by Coca-Cola, IBM, McDonald’s and General Electric.
