Chamisul selects K-pop’s IU as new spokesperson
November 21, 2014
After taking the alcohol level of its drinks down a notch, Korea’s most popular soju brand has selected a popular singer-songwriter and actress as its new face.
IU, known for her dancing and her attractive voice, will be featured in advertisements for the now-milder version of Chamisul, which has a 17.8 alcohol level, the drink’s maker said, according to Yonhap News Agency.
“We are targeting people in their 20s and 30s with an artist who is popular among all generations, even senior citizens,” a Hite-Jinro executive said.
“We believe that IU has a pure and flawless image that matches Chamisul.”
The commercials will start airing next month.
