Samsung boasts of Galaxy S6 front-camera features
By Bahk Eun-ji
Samsung Electronics has dropped a hint that its Galaxy S6 will have “amazing” camera features.
It will unveil the phone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on March 1.
The details were revealed in an official blog post on Friday.
“The front-facing camera of the smartphone is now considered as an essential feature,” wrote Jang Dong-hoon, senior vice president and head of camera R&D at Samsung Electronics.
As social media popularized the “selfie” in recent years, the demand for a high-quality, front-facing camera became paramount, Jang said.
Jang did not give detailed specifications of the Galaxy S6 camera, but suggested what consumers will see in it.
“It will be intelligent and do all the thinking for the users, allowing them to take amazing pictures under any conditions, without having to worry about anything more than just pressing a shutter button,” he said.
The Galaxy S6 is expected to debut in two versions, flat and rounded screens. It will also use glass on the front and back. It also will have a 5.1-inch organic light emitting-diode display with rounded corners.
One major change is the use of a new-generation lithium-polymer battery, which is smaller and runs cooler.
