12-year-old Korean qualifies for New Zealand Women’s Open using Lydia Ko’s old golf clubs
February 24, 2015
New Zealand has a new South Korea-born golf phenom following in the footsteps of world No. 1 Lydia Ko.
12-year-old Park Bo-hyun shot a 2-under 70 during a qualifying round at Clearwater Golf Club to secure a spot in the 2015 ISPS New Zealand Women’s Open.
Coincidentally, Ko debuted at the same tournament at the same age with the same coach using the same clubs that Park currently has in the bag.
The comparison could put an immense amount of pressure and public expectation on the amateur.
“It’s very hard to reach the heights that Lydia has got to,” coach Guy Wilson told ONE News. ”Experience is one thing, dealing with the pressure, as well of being in an event like this which she hasn’t experienced before.”
