K-pop trainee dead in apparent suicide
A K-pop hopeful chosen to train as a member of Kara was found dead in a flower bed in what police say is a suicide, Yonhap reported.
Ahn So-jin, 23, was a trainee under DSP Media who starred in the MBC Music program “Kara Project: The Beginning” last year.
Ahn was at her grandmother’s apartment in Daejeon. She died at a hospital after being taken there in an ambulance after an apartment security guard found her unconscious in a flower bed around 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to police and DSP Media Wednesday.
Police suspect Ahn jumped from the apartment and are investigating further. No note was found.
DSP artists expressed their condolences through social networking after news broke.
“She was a friend who always made me think of my roots. I hope she can sing her heart out, wherever she is,” Kim Jae-kyung of Rainbow wrote on Twitter.
DSP said Ahn, who had been training for four years, cancelled her trainee contract one month ago and was living in her hometown of Daejeon.
