African Americans are largest minority demographic for ABC’s ‘Fresh Off The Boat’
As it turns out, ABC’s “Fresh Off The Boat” is drawing more African American viewers than any other minority demographic according to Nielsen Research.
Compared to the 14.5 percent of Asians who watch the show, African Americans made up 14.9 percent of the viewership.
Hispanic viewers made up 11.1 percent while Caucasian viewers filled out the remaining 59.5 percent.
It’s not a significant difference, but the results reveal a trend that might not have been expected by studios, critics or viewers alike.
One thing to take into consideration is that the African American population nearly triples that of Asian Americans in the U.S. according to census data.
The sitcom revolves around a Taiwanese American family and its struggles and successes assimilating into 90s American suburban culture.
