ABC’s ‘Fresh Off The Boat’ hits viewership low after Eddie Huang criticisms
By Brian Han
ABC’s “Fresh Off The Boat” brought in its lowest number of viewers to date on Tuesday following its latest series of criticisms from the show’s producer Eddie Huang.
“For the record, I don’t watch #FreshOffTheBoat on #ABCNetwork,” he admitted a week ago on Twitter along with a handful of other controversial comments.
Whether or not that played a role in the show’s declining performance is difficult to tell, but 4.7 million viewers tuned in to the sitcom beating out the previous low of 4.8 million according to Nielsen Media Research.
Most of the shows in the 8:30 p.m. Tuesday time slot on primetime network television saw a dip in audience numbers on the same night.
NBC’s “The Voice” saw a 6.16 percent decrease while CBS’s “NCIS” experienced a 8.57 percent decrease compared to last week’s figures. “Fresh Off The Boat” decreased by 3.98 percent.
Only one episode remains in the show’s debut season and it has yet to be renewed.
It will need some upward momentum for its season finale to convince ABC that it’s a show worth keeping around.
