Texas Rangers outfielder Choo Shin-soo is on a 12-game hitting tear after a dismal April performance during which he batted a league-low .094.
After going 3-for-5 in a 7-6 extra innings loss against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, the South Korean veteran has officially bumped up his average above the Mendoza line to .214.
In addition to two singles, Choo hit a solo home run over the right field wall in the bottom of the first inning.
He is now 17-for-51 (.333) in the month of May.
The Rangers will play game three of a four-game series against the Royals on Wednesday at home in Global Life Park.
The series is currently split at 1-1.
