Kevin Na takes outright 2-stroke lead at Colonial
By Brian Han
Kevin Na shot a 4-under 66 on Friday to take a two-stroke lead going into the weekend at Colonial Country Club.
The Korean American turned in an almost blemish-free scorecard with five birdies and a lone bogey on the final hole of the Crowne Plaza Invitational.
Na sprayed his drive to the right rough on the 441-yard par 4 eighth, but recovered after knocking his approach on the green to about 20 feet.
After lagging the lengthy putt to just two feet, he managed to miss the follow up to record a five.
Na has been taking advantage of his strengths so far this season by favoring accuracy over distance, but his one issue has been closing out tournaments.
He led the Players Championship just last week going into the final two rounds, but tied for sixth after faltering in the final round.
The 31-year-old veteran has already recorded five top-10s in just 14 events including a second place finish.
His strong performances have put him 25th in the FedEx Cup rankings and 21st in the world.
Ian Poulter is two strokes off of Na’s lead after shooting a second round 3-under 67.
