Yoo Jae-suk donates to comfort women home House of Sharing
Top South Korean television personality Yoo Jae-suk donated 40 million won, or about $36,000 to Kyeonggi Province’s comfort women home House of Sharing this month, Yonhap reported.
The house, located in Kyeonggi Province, is home to a group of living survivors who were forced into sexual slavery by Japanese soldiers during World War II.
Last year, Yoo gave 20 million won, or about $18,000 to the house after visiting the elderly comfort women there for his variety program “Infinity Challenge.” The show later donated another 25 million won.
Ahn Shin-won, head of the house, said Yoo held long discussions with the elderly there about the ongoing requests for Japan’s apology by comfort women.
“The elderly are very thankful that he did not forget and has given such big help,” Ahn said.
Yoo is the country’s top television talent and currently leads MBC’s “Infinity Challenge,” SBS’s “Running Man” and KBS’s “Happy Together.”
