Twice as nice: Kang hits 2 for 4 for five straight games
By Brian Han
Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Kang Jung-ho notched his second 10-game on-base streak of his rookie season on Thursday in a 7-4 win against the Washington Nationals.
It was his fifth multi-hit game in a row as the 28-year-old continued to prove that he deserves his place in the major leagues.
Kang went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while scoring a run in the sixth inning.
The South Korean is seeing a lot more playing time with both Jordy Mercer and Josh Harrison out on the disabled list. It may be that the regular at-bats are helping Kang settle into a rhythm.
The performance brought his average up to .285 on the season.
The Pirates will face the Nationals on Friday at home for the second game of a four-game series.
