BTS brings K-pop energy to LA in last leg of tour
By Tae Hong
A sold-out “The Red Bullet III” concert starring BTS, the red-hot K-pop act of the moment, seemed to begin even before the doors opened, with hundreds of fans chanting, “BTS! BTS! BTS!” outside Club Nokia in Los Angeles Sunday.
Fans crowded into the 2,300-seat venue clad in BTS shirts, some holding signs, and nearly brought down the house with cheers as the seven boys entered the stage in military outfits.
Sets for the two-and-a-half-hour concert were a showcase of energy and of why the group has seen such a fast rise in the oversaturated South Korean music market.
Through jumpers like the hyper-choreographed “Danger” and “Boy in Luv” to intense head-bouncer “Cypher Pt. 3: KILLER,” BTS had fans on their feet, but the group’s softer side came out, too, in a cooing ”Just One Day” and the crowd-pleasing “Miss Right.”
Their latest hit “Dope” and “Fun Boys” concluded a four-city U.S. tour that saw the band traveling through New York, Dallas and Chicago before landing in the City of Angels.
