Korean Canadian appointed as UN’s Director of Ethics Office
United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appointed Korean Canadian Elia Armstrong to the position of Director of the Ethics office.
The 54-year-old will be succeeding Joane Elise Dubinski of the U.S.
Most recently she worked as the Chief of the Development Management Branch of the Division for Public Administration and Development Management at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. She was the Director of the Ethics Office previously at the UN Development Programme from 2008 to 2012.
Armstrong received her master’s degree in social policy from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of British Columbia.
She was born in 1961 and is married with two children.
