World No. 1 female golfer Park Inbee delivers another ’Birdies of Hope’ check to Make-A-Wish Foundation to help children with life-threatening medical conditions
Park Inbee, the best female golfer in the world, delivered a check to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (http://www.wish.or.kr) this past Christmas Eve, to help children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The 25-year old Korean golfer became a spokeswoman for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Korea upon winning the U.S. Women’s Open in 2008. She donated 38 million won ($36,000) of her winnings to the foundation at the time and had been saving $20 per every birdie she got – which she called “Birdies of Hope.”
Park recorded 351 birdies this year alone, which was the third most in the LPGA Tour. So far, she has donated 70 million won ($66,000).
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in the United States that arranges to “make wishes come true” for children with life-threatening medical conditions, and the Korean chapter handles more than 350 such cases per year.
