NY, NJ Koreans prepare for turkeys and rice campaign

The foundation has given free turkeys to about 250 soup-kitchen facilities in New York and New Jersey for 28 years.

Korean Americans in New York and New Jersey are already preparing for an annual end-of-the-year charity campaign now in its 29th effort, a turkey and rice donation event.

This year’s goal is 3,000 turkeys, at $10 each, and 1,000 bags of rice, at $15 each, to give to local seniors and low-income Koreans, Free Turkeys for Korean Americans Foundation said.

Turkeys and rice will be given out on three separate days in New York and New Jersey — Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. inside St. Paul Church, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. inside City Harvest Church and Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. inside the Korean American Senior Citizen’s Association of New Jersey.

The foundation will accept donations — tax-deductible — until Nov. 7.
