Samsung Electronics ranks 7th in global brand value
SEOUL, Oct. 5 (Yonhap) — South Korea’s tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. ranked seventh in the world this year in terms of brand value, a global consultancy report showed Monday.
According to the annual report compiled by Interbrand, Samsung Electronics came in seventh for this year, with its brand value estimated at US$45.3 billion.
Samsung’s ranking and estimated value were unchanged from a year earlier, the report showed.
Apple Inc. topped the pack with its brand value estimated at $170.3 billion, up 43 percent from a year earlier, followed by Google Inc. at $120.3 billion.
South Korea’s two auto giants — Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. — joined the top 100 list.
Hyundai Motor, the country’s leading automaker, came in 39th, its highest rank ever, with its brand value projected at US$11.3 billion. It was one notch higher than a year earlier.
Kia Motors Corp. stayed at 74th, while its brand value was estimated at $5.7 billion, up 5 percent from a year earlier.
Among automakers, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors ranked 7th and 11th, which were unchanged from a year earlier, the report showed.
