Park Inbee can’t chase Lydia Ko, withdraws due to injury

What Park Inbee needs right now is a hot streak to end the LPGA Tour season. That’s if she wants to catch up with newly crowned world No. 1 Lydia Ko who is also the money and Player of the Year leader.

What she got was a left middle finger injury that forced her to withdraw from the Blue Bay LPGA in China on Friday. If she had won the tournament with Ko finishing outside of the top-10, she could have reclaimed her spot as the best female golfer in the world.

She finished out the round with a 3-over 75. As it turns out, that’s not such a bad score considering that only five of the 80 players were able to stay under par over 36 holes.

It is unknown when she will return, but the 2015 LPGA season still has three more events left. Park is scheduled to play in two of them including the CME Group Tour Championship, which begins on Nov. 19.

Ko is currently tied for 47th after coming off an absolutely dominant victory at the LPGA Taiwan Championship in which she won by nine strokes.

The Korean New Zealander shot a second round 3-over 75 for a total of 8-over for the tournament.
