Former Miss Korea USA wins Miss World Korea 2015
Wang Hyun, a California native who was crowned Miss Korea USA last year, won the top title once again at the Miss World Korea 2015 pageant Saturday in Gangwon, South Korea.
Wang will go on to represent South Korea at the Miss World beauty pageant, the largest such international event.
Wang said she had not expected to win the crown.
“I’m thankful for this huge title and will do my best to spread the beauty of Korea from now on,” she said.
Her father encouraged her to join the pageant and even took care of her schedule for her, she said.
Wang, who has taken a break from her sophomore year in college, said she plans to come back to America to finish her degree after the world pageant is over.
“My current dream or goal is not to become a celebrity. My major is art, so I’d like to find work doing art and design,” she said.
