OC to declare Dec. 12 Korean American Senior Citizens Day
By The Korea Times Orange County staff
Orange County will declare Dec. 12 as Korean American Senior Citizens Day, the local Korean American Federation said Monday.
The official announcement will be made inside Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel during a joint seniors celebration hosted by Supervisor Michelle Park Steel Saturday, according to KAFOC.
“We wanted to make Dec. 12 a day to anticipate, like a birthday, for seniors who paved the road for our immigrant community in the United States,” said Kim Ka-deung, KAFOC president. “I hope the day becomes an annual cooperative event to hear the stories of our seniors and learn from them.”
The celebration will also bring in cultural shows by samulnori and traditional dance groups, as well as musical performances.
