Korean student among $100K Siemens grand prize winners

Two New York high school seniors were the team winners of this year’s Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology, which awards a $100,000 grand prize.

Christine Yoo, 17, and Kimberly Te, 17, of Manhasset High School, presented a project on cleaning oil spills using a natural and cost-effective method.

Yoo and Te, as well as a third grand prize winner in the individual category — West Palm Beach, Florida, high school senior Maria Elena Grimmett — received their prizes inside The George Washington University in a ceremony.

The nationally recognized competition saw 4,000 students participate with 1,781 projects this year.

The competition began in 1998.

    100k wining is quite much students who won it will now definitely be coming up with more innovative ideas. These type of competition shows students growth country wise alot of student definitely will be appearing with crazy ideas next year.
