‘Perceived student threat’ causes Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton to close down
FULLERTON (CNS) – Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton was closed for the day today because of a threatening note found on campus, but will reopen tomorrow.
“Sunny Hills High School experienced a perceived student threat on the safety to the students and staff,” according to a statement posted on the Fullerton Joint Union High School District website. “Out of an abundance of caution, the principal and superintendent made the decision to close Sunny Hills High School for the day.”
Police officers were dispatched to Sunny Hills High to conduct a sweep of the campus, which did not turn up anything to back up the threat, according to Fullerton police Lt. Andrew Goodrich.
Someone left a threatening note on campus, prompting the shutdown, Goodrich said.
“It’s not terrorist-related or something along those lines at all,” Goodrich said.
Police mostly helped with traffic as parents were picking up children and did not find anything on campus to lend credibility to the threat, Goodrich said.
The closure came a day after the Los Angeles Unified School District’s more than 900 campuses were kept shuttered in response to what turned out to be a bogus bomb threat.
