Seoul court dismisses Cha Du-ri’s divorce petition
A Seoul court dismissed a divorce petition filed by retired South Korean soccer star Cha Du-ri on Thursday.
The Seoul Family Court ruled against the 35-year-old seeking divorce from his wife of seven years, citing no evidence to support his claim of ”unfair treatment” by his 36-year-old wife Shin Hye-sung.
The court also denied Cha’s request for parental rights and custody of the couple’s two children.
The son of South Korean football legend Cha Bum-kun married Imperial Palace Hotel CEO’s eldest daughter back in 2008, and had filed for divorce in November 2013.
The younger Cha wrapped up a 14-year career that included appearances at two FIFA World Cups last November, after a brilliant showing at the Asian Cup competition. He also played for German and Scottish clubs.
