Rangers’ Choo Shin-soo to begin rehab in minors this week
SEOUL (Yonhap) — Injured Texas Rangers outfielder Choo Shin-soo will work out in the minors this week with hopes of returning to the majors by early next month, a report said.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram said Monday (local time) Choo, on the 15-day disabled list (DL) with a strained left hamstring, will take live batting practice from minor leaguers at Double-A Frisco this week.
Choo was placed on the DL on May 23, after playing in just one game in a return from a strained right calf muscle.
Choo has only played in six games this season, his third with Texas, batting .188 with an RBI, six walks and one steal.
The current injury isn’t considered serious: Choo has been hitting and running since the day after going back on the DL. He’s eligible to return Sunday, but could spend a few more days before he’s ready.
Manager Jeff Banister told the Star-Telegram, “We’re going to make sure he’s right.”
