Girl group I.O.I to release new song in October
SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Yonhap) — South Korean girl group I.O.I will release a new EP in October, the band’s agency said Thursday.
The 11-member act’s lead song will be produced by Park Jin-young, the chief of K-pop entertainment giant JYP Entertainment, the girl group’s agency YMC Entertainment said in a press release.
Park, who doubles as singer-producer, volunteered for the task with high expectations for I.O.I member Jeon So-mi.
Park will take the helm of the overall production of the EP, including choreography, styling, music video and musical production.
“We are much excited to see the energy effect of I.O.I’s nationwide popularity and Park Jin-young’s expertise in making hit girl groups, such as Wonder Girls, miss A and TWICE,” an official of YMC Entertainment said.
I.O.I made its debut through cable broadcaster Mnet’s hit idol auditioning entertainment show “Produce 101″ in May.
