Here Wie Ko !
Michelle Wie and Lydia Ko are 3rd and 5th, respectively,
at the halfway mark of LPGA tour season opener Bahamas Classic
The 16-year old rookie sensation Lydia Ko let a few players go by at the halfway pole, including the former prodigy Michelle Wie, who had a bogey-free round.
Ko settled for being tied for fifth (Total 8-under 138), with another Korean Choi Na-yeon, and Wie is tied for third (9-under 137) with Korean qualifier Jenny Suh, going into the weekend.
Ko started the day as co-leader at the LPGA Tour’s season opener Pure Silk-Bahamas Classic with Lee Meena at 5-under 68. But, in the second round of play at the Paradise Island’s Ocean Club Golf Course, 3-under 70 was not good enough to keep the lead.
The other co-leader, Lee struggled to hit three over par, and fell all the way down to being tied for 35th.
Jessica Korda, the daughter of retired professional tennis players Petr Korda, shot to the front with a seven-under round (11-under 135), one shot ahead of Paula Creamer.
Wie and Creamer each scored an eight-under 65 for the low round of the event so far.
Suh, the 28-year old Virginia native, is a Monday qualifier who had failed to gain fully exempt status on the tour when she lost a playoff at Q-school.
