SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Yonhap) — South Korean boy band EXO has sold more than 2.13 million copies of its five albums released in 2016, the group’s agency has said.

EXO sold about 796,000 copies of its third full-length album “EX’ACT,” released in June, and 374,000 copies of its re-packaged album “LOTTO,” rolled out two months later, the band’s management S.M. Entertainment said in a press release Wednesday.

EXO’s unit album “Hey Mama!” with Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin contributed another 276,000 copies to the sum, and Lay, EXO’s China-born member, raked in 260,000 copies with the solo EP “Lose Control.”

The band sold an additional 260,000 copies of its winter special album “For Life,” released in mid-December.

Since its debut in 2012, EXO has grown into one of the most popular K-pop boy bands in Asia. The band has done particularly well among its Korean peers, with all of its three full-length albums achieving sales of over 1 million copies.

EXO has been recognized at multiple big-name music awards in Asia. At the end of this year, EXO garnered top honors at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), the Melon Music Awards and the Asia Artist Awards. It is shooting for more awards at the upcoming Golden Disk Awards, to be held Jan. 13 and 14.
