Kwanghee to join military in March
SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Yonhap) — Kwanghee of South Korean boy band ZE:A will enlist in the Army for his mandatory military service in March, according to sources in the broadcasting industry on Friday.
The singer, 29, will join the South Korean Army on March 13, said the sources. After undergoing training at the basic military camp situated in South Chungcheong Province for five weeks, the idol will be dispatched to a regional military base for his 21-month service.
“Kwanghee will be shooting Infinite Challenge until he departs for the military,” an official from the televising network said in a phone call with Yonhap News Agency.
“‘Infinite Challenge,’ which went on hiatus last month, has resumed production,” the official added.
As Kwanghee, who joined the variety program cast in 2015, will be leaving the show soon, rumors of a return of former members Noh Hong-chul and Jeong Hyeong-don have been circulating.
The idol singer has recently signed an exclusive contract with Bonboo Entertainment following the expiration of the contract with his former agency Star Empire.
His current agency houses UFC fighter Yoshihiro Akiyama, a fourth-generation Japanese of Korean descent popular here by his Korean name Choo Sung-hoon.
