Curry Helps Ease Depression
October 11, 2013
The curcumin in curry acts as an anti-depressant drug – without all the side effects, research shows.
Most common drugs for depression have many side effects. In the U.S., 11 percent of people taking anti-depressant drugs suffer nausea, fatigue, or memory loss.
Baylor University researchers conducted a study of 60 people, split into three groups.
One group was given curcumin supplements, another was given Prozac, and the last group was given a mix of Prozac and curcumin.
The results showed curcumin had the same effects as Prozac.
“Those who ate 500mg of curcumin twice a day felt the same as if they had taken anti-depressant drugs,” said Dr. Ajay Goel.
