Sooyoung cast for film adaptation of famous Japanese novel
SEOUL, April 11 (Yonhap) — Girls’ Generation’ Sooyoung has been cast as the female lead in a Korean film adaptation of a best-selling novel by Japanese writer Yoshimoto Banana, the film’s production company said Wednesday.
Singer-actress Sooyoung will play Yumi in the film “Memories of a Dead End,” which began shooting on April 1 in Japan, Zoa Films said in a press release. Rising Japanese actor Shunsuke Tanaka has been cast as Nishiyama, opposite Sooyoung, it added.
The movie tells the story of a woman who gets healed while meeting new people in a strange city at what she thinks is a dead end in her life.
It is the feature debut film of Choi Hyun-young, who won various international awards for her 2009 short film “The After…”
