Lee Sang-hwa’s boyfriend shows up in Sochi
By Ko Dong-hwan
Gold medalist speed skater Lee Sang-hwa received a warm reception from not just her fans across the world but also her military boyfriend who visited Sochi, reports said Thursday.
Lee Sang-yeop, serving as a lieutenant, rendezvoused with the skating heroine after being approved for overseas travel during his vacation from the last week.
The reports said Lee met her only briefly after her 500 meters event on Wednesday that won her the medal.
Lee’s face was on Korean SNS in 2011 when the skater posted a picture of her together with him, with a message that read, “Being with you gives me an incredible support.”
A former ice hockey player, Lee was commissioned TI & E (Troop Information & Education) officer of the Naval Special Warfare Group in December 2011 and has been since.
