Lakers’ Henry and Sacre help clean up elementary school near K-town
(CNS) – Laker players Robert Sacre and Xavier Henry helped spruce up an alley today as part of a service project near a Los Angeles elementary school.
The players joined volunteers to paint a wall and clean up trash, and also interacted with fans in the alley close to Magnolia Avenue Elementary School.
“I’m certainly happy to give back and be part of this community,” Sacre said. “I love L.A. and I want to show my love towards L.A. by just giving back.”
While the duo play as a team on the court, Henry joked he felt he was doing most of the heavy lifting at the community service project.
“Who did the most painting? Probably me up to this point,” Henry said with a smile. “I’m the dirtiest. I’ve taken it upon myself to take on the wall, so I’m doing my best I can, and Rob is walking around handing out waters.”
He said it’s all for a good cause and he’s just happy to give back.
“For us to be able to help and make a connection with them and to help their lives and improve their lives is a big deal for us,” Henry said.
The duo were joined by volunteers from the Koreatown Youth and Community Center, the Belong Campaign and LA-Mas.
