March 18, 2015
GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a woman killed and a man injured in a boat crash on Lake Lanier are believed to be a husband and wife from Buford.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials identified the woman as 29-year-old So Yang Kim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. They said 34-year-old Young Tae Shim has been released from a hospital after being treated for his injuries.
The Times of Gainesville reports that the wreck happened Sunday night in the Chestatee Bay area of the lake off Georgia 369. Authorities say the crash was reported to emergency workers around 9:40 p.m. Sunday.
DNR spokesman Mark McKinnon said investigators are trying to determine how the crash happened.
