Actor Kim Dong-hyun given one-year sentence for fraud
June 25, 2015
Actor Kim Dong-hyun was given a one-year sentence by Seoul Central District Court on charges of fraud Thursday in South Korea.
According to local media, Kim, 65, was found guilty of owing about 130 million won, or about $116,840, to a friend from whom he borrowed the money.
Kim said it was not himself who took the money, but a deceased friend who was present when the promissory note was written.
He told the court he wrote his own name onto the note without much meaning, as it was a monetary exchange between friends.
Kim debuted in 1978 in the film “Last Winter” and currently appears in the MBC drama “The Great Wives.”
